Scholastic Book Fair comes to FCA!

scholasticI’s that time of year again. Every student is excited and anticipating this years Scholastic Book Fair. Starting Monday February 9th through Friday February 13th from 3;20pm-5:00pm Faith Christian Academy will be hosting the event in our schools library. All proceeds will go to updating and improving our schools library. Here is a brief description describing the event, “Scholastic’s literacy events generate excitement for reading and revenues for schools. One of Scholastic?s best-known and best-loved businesses is Book Fairs, in-school events that bring the joy and excitement of reading right to students. With the look and feel of a bustling bookstore, these weeklong events feature mobile cases full of affordable books based on characters and subjects kids love and want to read about. From newly released books and best sellers to award-winning titles and perennial favorites, every book is hand-selected by Scholastic experts and chosen from dozens of other publishers. Scholastic provides the books, planning tools and display cases for the events, which are run by volunteer parents, teachers, and school librarians.

Scholastic has been bringing books to schools for more than 30 years. Each year Book Fairs sells more than 100 million books to 35 million children and their families visiting more than 127,000 fairs in preschool, elementary, and middle schools around the world. Book Fairs also generates more than 175 million dollars in cash and educational resources for schools, which receive a portion of sales from every Book Fair they host. More importantly, the events provide students, teachers, and parents with access to thousands of affordable books and educational products.

“With every Book Fair, we?re connecting kids to books they want to read,” says Alan Boyko, president of Scholastic Book Fairs®. “That’s so important, because the more kids read, the better readers they become, and the more successful they?ll be in school, in work, and in life.”
